I am running Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.14393 Build 14393.I have installed a Sound Blaster Audigy 5/Rx sound card. The drivers for the sound card are reported as signed by Creative Technology, version 6.0.301.46 from.Everything was working just fine up to about 15 days ago.Ever since, I lose sound every several minutes (or get it very distorted).I tried my headset to see if the problem arose with them, and it did.I found that if I follow the following procedure, the sound muting / distortion gets fixed immediately:1. Right click the sound icon in the task bar (far right).2. Select 'Playback devices'3. In the Sound window, select 'Speakers'.4.
Left click the 'Configure' button.5. Select an 'Audio channels' option different from the one set up in my system (5.1 surround)6. Left click the test button.7. Select button 'Yes' in the popup window with the message 'Device in Use. The device is being used by another application.
If you continue, that application may stop working. Do you want to continue?' At this point the sound is back and ok.9. I select again Audio channels 5.1 Surround, left click 'Next' twice, un-check 'Full-range speakers' (that I don't have), left click next, left click 'Finish'.Before finding this, I followed the 'Troubleshoot sound problems' wizard; un-checked 'Enable audio enhancements' in sound properties - advanced; selected 16 bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality) as Default Format; un-checked 'Allow applications to take exclusive controlof this device'.The problem persists.I am downloading to see if it helps, although I doubt it.Any ideas? I'm having the same exact problem!
I just bought a brand new Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 5/Rx and I'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM.I tried to download the latest the latest drivers from Creative Labs website, the same drivers that the person above mentioned. It's just not working. There's a problem with Windows 10, and Windows 10 needs to be fixed to work properly with this card.Something is wrong with Windows 10 and the operating system (or drivers) are not working properly. We need Windows to resolve this! Microsoft keeps changing their operating system, and it keeps screwing up people's computers and many people have used thesecards in the past, and now they're not working!Telling me to take the card out of my system, and not use the card is NOT the solution! The solution is FIX this problem with Windows 10, and get these cards working with Windows 10!! That is the solution.Worst support I've EVER seen.
